WorkCover for breakfast

BUSINESSES across Greater Dandenong will converge next month to discuss the ‘sensitive issue’ of WorkCover premiums as they come under review.
South East Melbourne Manufacturers Alliance (SEMMA) will hold a conference on 6 December and has invited all businesses to attend and discuss the issue of WorkCover premiums as they enter a review and consultation period with WorkSafe and businesses.
SEMMA executive officer Paul Dowling said the group had been in discussions with WorkCover representatives to understand what the new changes would mean.
“The implication is that companies that do not control their WorkCover may incur significant increases in their current premium levels over the next few years whilst companies that have controlled this may expect a reduction,” he said. “Also the performance levels and ‘value added’ aspects of WorkCover agents and their effects on premium levels has been severely questioned over the past few years.
“In recognising the above issues, SEMMA has recently held some very fruitful meetings with WorkCover representatives.”
Mr Dowling said the breakfast would give local manufacturers a briefing from sector specialists on how to control WorkCover premiums.
The forum will be held at the Sandown Regency Motor Inn on 6 December from 7am-9am. Bookings can be made on 9238 1565, and the cost of $30 per person includes a full breakfast.
