Freeway car-jacker at large

A driver has been violently carjacked while queued on a Monash Freeway on-ramp in Dandenong.

Police say that a man driving a silver vehicle crashed into idling cars as he tried to push through the line of traffic about 8am on Tuesday 2 April.

The man then abandoned the car, and approached the victim’s car at the front of the waiting traffic.

He then struck the 34-year-old Cranbourne South woman with an object and fled in her vehicle.

The vehicle, described as a white 1998 Holden Commodore with registration UJV797, was seen travelling towards the city on the Monash Freeway.

It was recovered by police in Botanical Drive, Doveton later that day.

The car-jacker is described as about 180 centimetres, slim build and wearing a grey hoodie.

The victim received minor injuries, not requiring hospitalisation.

Any information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
