Freak tree fall kills mother of two

An Endeavour Hills mother was killed and her son critically injured after their moving car was crushed by a falling tree on the Black Spur about 9.30am on Friday 9 August.

Angie Suryadi, 41, who was a front passenger, died at the scene at Maroondah Highway in Fernshaw.

Her son Oliver, 4, was airlifted in a critical condition and remains at Royal Childrens Hospital, as of 12 August.

Her husband Arnold Adiatiasvara and son Jonathan, 5, were extricated from the wreck.

The family, who had arrived in Australia only a few years ago, had been reportedly on their way to celebrate Mr Adiatiasvara’s birthday in the snow last weekend.

Ms Suryadi was mournfully remembered as a “great friend” in a Facebook post by her Rowville church Australia for Christ Australia.

“A beautiful soul, full of love and faith, ascended to heaven, away from us, but closer to God, leaving loneliness and sadness,” the church stated.

“We are deeply pained and words are of no help in expressing the sorrow we feel at this moment.

“No one can prepare you for a loss.”

Church member Lifo Wijaya told reporters at a service on 10 August that “the whole family were just a beautiful family”.

“That’s why we’re so shocked.”

It’s reported that Ms Suryadi’s family will fly from Indonesia for her funeral.
