Traders get briefing

WITH massive changes expected to continue in central Dandenong this year, the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association (DRTA) will focus its first meeting for the year on just that.
Greater Dandenong Council chief executive officer John Bennie will be the guest speaker at the association’s first general meeting for the year on 1 February.
Mr Bennie will talk about the council’s commitment to the Revitalisation of Central Dandenong.
He will inform DRTA members about the works in Lonsdale, Walker and Thomas streets, the upgrade of the Dandenong Produce Market, Metro 3175 and the Municipal Building Project.
After last year’s success, Mr Bennie will also talk about Greater Dandenong’s involvement in this years Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
“We are very fortunate that John Bennie has, again, agreed to open our year by providing Central Dandenong retailers with a briefing on what is happening in the precinct and for that we are most appreciative,” association chairman Roy Aspinall said.
“I encourage all retailers to attend and learn more about this important subject.”
Tea and coffee is supplied and the meetings also act as excellent networking opportunities.
Mr Aspinall said the meetings were also generally attended by the council, Victoria Police and VicUrban representatives to report to members and answer queries.
“All retailers are invited, be they members or not, but we do hope that if you are not a member then you will take the opportunity to become active in your community,” he said.
“Membership of the Dandenong Retail Traders’ Association is a wonderful way to have a say in what happens in Central Dandenong.”
The meeting will be held at The Ramada Encore Hotel, 50 McCrae Street, Dandenong. It will commence at 6pm and conclude about 7.30pm.
