Dob in your boss for an award

GREATER Dandenong employers have the chance to be honoured for safe workplace practices and initiatives.
The WorkSafe Awards are now open for nominations in several categories that will reward workplaces across the state which have endeavoured to provide a workplace which is as safe as possible for their employees.
WorkSafe executive director John Merritt said the awards recognised employers who saw safety as part of business culture.
“This says to their customers and clients that they’re proud of their product or service because they take care with everything they do,” he said.
Mr Merritt said a quarter of nominations came from WorkSafe inspectors however, he encouraged all businesses to nominate, stating many were unaware of the great job they were doing.
“In a way, that’s good because for them safety is part of business as usual but by nominating for the awards they’re playing a real part in developing an even better culture of safety across Victoria’s workplaces.”
Mr Merritt said previous winners often examined potential hazards and were developing ways of eliminating them.
To find out more, or to nominate an employer for the awards, visit www.worksafe.vic.gov.au or call Terry Crosby on 9641 1365.
