Cummins plant closes, with some jobs lost

INDUSTRIAL power equipment manufacturer Cummins had told staff the global economic crisis has forced them to close its Dandenong plant.
Cummins workers were told last week that the plant would close its doors on Friday.
Some staff would be “redeployed” while others would be laid off.
The number of jobs made redundant has not been released.
However, the Star believes it could be as many as 45.
Calls made to Cummins have not been returned.
