THE much anticipated $926,000 Tatterson Park playground that features ladybugs, ants, beehives and a giant magnifying glass was opened this week.
Keysborough residents gathered on Tuesday to celebrate the launch of the Cheltenham Rd facility which has a ‘World of Insects’ theme.
It is designed to mix with the natural surroundings of the park and provide children with the chance to learn more about the local environment.
The new recreation space was particularly important to new communities within Keysborough, Isaacs MP Mark Dreyfus said.
“It has been fantastic to see the growth in this part of Keysborough in recent years, and with so many new members of our local community having young children, this modern and fun playground is a great recreation facility for families in the area,” he said.
City of Greater Dandenong mayor Jim Memeti said he believed the playground would be well used by both children and adults. “The playground is fun, quirky and blends in with the natural surrounds of the park.”
Families can also enjoy a new picnic area, funded by the council and the State Government Community Support Fund.
The playground is part of the Tatterson Park Master Plan and was funded by the City of Greater Dandenong and the Federal Governments Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.
It’s thumbs up for new park
