DANDENONG Rangers’ successful SEABL year was rewarded by judges, umpires and peers at the SEABL Awards Night on Saturday.
The grand-final bound Daequon Montreal – playing in the SEABL men’s grand final against Mount Gambier on Sunday afternoon – was named in the All SEABL Men’s team for a stellar second season at Dandenong averaging 22.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 35 per cent from the three-point line from his 31 games.
While the Rangers’ women had their season abruptly ended by Sandringham two weeks ago, the accolades still went their way.
Taking her already impressive play to the next level this season, Amelia Todhunter was named in the All SEABL Women Team and finished only three votes behind the SEABL Women’s MVP, Knox Raiders guard Kelly Wilson.
Todhunter excelled with extra responsibility this season – averaging 16.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game and rained in 30 three-pointers at 29.1 per cent.
Faith Probst was named Defensive Player of the Year to cap of an impressive season.
Former Dandenong Ranger Steph Cumming, playing this season for Frankston Blues, won the leading scorer award and was also named in the All SEABL Women’s Team.
