Thunder struck

By JARROD POTTER

ANTICIPATION exceeded reality in the Dandenong Thunder versus South Melbourne match on Sunday.
Former Thunder coach Chris Taylor and a cadre of ex-players took the field in the South Melbourne strip and the Thunder couldn’t stop their advance as the home side executed a 6-2 thrashing.
In even more agony for the beleaguered Thunder – it was the former Dandenong boys that put the nails in the coffin.
Nick Epifano drilled a pair of goals and the Thunder’s temporary captain this season Bryan Bran also chipped in for a goal.
Chasing a 0-3 deficit in the 10th minute – after the South Melbourne spree – Dandenong fired back via Eric Frazier (19’) and a penalty slotted by the captain Shane Rexhepi, after Nate Foster was dragged down in the box in the 25th minute.
Souths put another three goals on after that to increase the pain and complete the rout.
The Thunder is a point outside of the top eight and in danger of missing the finals. Dandenong faces Hume City this Sunday at 3pm at Broadmeadows Valley Park.
