Revenge… right time, right place

By JARROD POTTER

NOBLE Park couldn’t claim the EFL reserves’ premiership – downed gallantly by a fleetfooted Vermont outfit 8.6 (45) to 9.11 (65).
Heading into the finals with a 17-1 record to top the Division 1 reserves’ table, the Bulls earned their bye two weeks ago by knocking off Vermont by 11 points in a semi-final.
The shoe was on the other foot on Saturday though as the Eagles’ swooped on the Bulls to claw back the lead.
Noble Park pushed ahead in the dying moments of the second quarter – with goals to Kevin Kean and Ray Lengyel – helping seize initiative.
From there the Eagles got their act together – with a four-goal haul from Adrian Gileno pushing Vermont ahead when it mattered most.
Able to squeeze the margin back to a point in the final term – with a run-in goal from Israel Carter – the Bulls kept the fight going.
Vermont returned fire though and was able to claim the reserves’ premiership to avenge the loss of the seniors the week before to the Bulls.
