Child is sole survivor in car-truck crash

A NOBLE Park truck driver will answer 10 charges over a crash in Catani on Friday morning that killed four members of one family.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives that night charged Jobandeep Gill, 27, at his Dandenong Hospital bedside with culpable and dangerous driving causing death, reckless conduct endangering life and failing to stop at a stop sign.
He was refused bail and will remain under police guard in hospital to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
It’s alleged he was driving a truck west along Caldermeade Road when it collided with a car travelling north along Heads Road, about 8.55am on 28 February.
The crash and subsequent fire set the car ablaze.
A man, 37, a woman, 33, their six-year-old daughter and two-year-old son, all from Poowong, died.
A nine-year-old boy survived and is in a stable condition at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
Gill suffered superficial injuries.
