Cheap sale didn’t compute

By CASEY NEILL

A CHEAP laptop deal has turned sour for a 48-year-old Dandenong man.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Acting Sergeant Luke Kirton said the victim met a man on 31 May and agreed to purchase a laptop from him.
They arranged to meet at Dandenong Railway Station later in the day, but the seller changed the location to Dandenong Showgrounds at Greaves Reserve, Bennet Street.
He and a man and woman arrived in a mid-’90s white Ford Falcon station wagon about 2.15pm.
When the victim showed him the large amount of cash he’d brought to buy the computer, the man kicked and punched him and stole his money and mobile phone.
Det Act Sgt Kirton said the investigation was ongoing.
He said a football match was underway nearby at the time and urged anyone who observed the vehicle in the area at about 2pm to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
