Journal takes top award

THE Dandenong Journal has been lauded as one of the best community newspapers in southern Australia.
The Journal was named best newspaper over 50,000 circulation in the annual Community Newspapers of Australia (CNA) southern awards on Friday night.
The awards are open to newspapers in South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.
In their comments the judges said the Journal had “A very strong journalism ethic and a great commitment to the community”.
“While there is a significant level of commercial support, management have ensured that there is still room for the very best journalism and photography that the newsroom can offer”.
Journal editor Narelle Coulter said the award recognised the Journal’s commitment to the Greater Dandenong community.
“The Journal has always strived to be a reliable record of its time and I am pleased the CNA judges have recognised the Journal team’s ongoing efforts to give readers the best newspaper we possibly can.”
