GREATER Dandenong District Girl Guides made global connections through fun activities to mark World Thinking Day.
Monday 22 February is also the joint birthday of Lord and Lady Baden Powell, founders of Scouts and Girl Guides.
The theme for this year’s World Thinking Day was ‘connected’.
The Greater Dandenong girls made New Zealand performance props called pois and had a live demonstration of flaming pois.
They decorated origami hearts with the Japanese character for happiness and peace, played a game called dragon tag, and collected funds to help girls in underprivileged countries across the Asia Pacific to enjoy Guides.
The Guides units in Noble Park and Springvale cater for girls aged 6 years old to 14 years old and are open to new members at any time.
Qualified leaders run the programs and prospective Guides are welcome to visit a unit.
Adults are also welcome as members or volunteers.
