Paramedics hospitalised a toddler who was accidentally locked in a car in Springvale.
Advanced life support paramedic Jeff Edwards said they were called to a car park in Springvale Road at 10.30am on Tuesday 14 March, when temperatures cracked 30 degrees.
“The boy had just been placed in the car and the doors accidentally locked,” he said.
“The toddler was rescued when a window was smashed by firefighters.
“The boy was sweating profusely and vomiting, which are signs of heat stress.
“We moved him to the air-conditioned ambulance and removed his clothes to cool him.
“The boy quickly improved and he was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition.”
The incident was one of eight calls to children locked in cars across Victoria that day.
Ambulance Victoria said most were accidental and no other children required treatment.
