Noble Park hospital needs upgrade: Greens

A Noble Park hospital for parents and children would receive a $2.5 million funding boost under a Greens election promise.

South East Metro MP Nina Springle said the three-year project at Queen Elizabeth Centre would upgrade accommodation, patient bathrooms, heating, cooling and replacement beds.

The centre’s client health digital system, internet and security system would also be upgraded.

The QEC is facing growing demand for its health and social support systems to parents and young children.

It is not currently meeting “best practice standards”, says its chief executive Sue White.

“These upgrades are critical to QEC’s ability to support and treat families.

“Built 25 years ago, QEC’s facility in Noble Park does not currently meet best practice standards for health care, staff safety or family support.”

Ms White said the investment would have impressive “payoff” by helping families and children during their “critical” first three years.

“The future savings to the medical, welfare and legal systems are vast.”

Ms Springle said the QEC’s “vital” work had touched the lives of many families in the South East.

“Demand for their services are increasing, and without additional funding families are waiting for up to three months to receive urgent care.”
