Senior fights off bag snatcher

Police have released vision of a suspect bag snatcher who was thwarted by his 76-year-old victim in Dandenong.

A Doveton woman was in the frozen food section of Woolworths supermarket in Armada Dandenong Plaza when a man grabbed her hand bag out of her shopping trolley shortly before 9.15am on 10 September.

The victim grabbed the bag back and a struggle ensued. The man fled the scene empty handed.

As a result of the incident the victim suffered soreness and bruising to her hand, police say.

The matter was reported to police on 12 September.

The would-be thief was described as 170 centimetres, slim build and wearing a dark jumper and pants.

Greater Dandenong CIU detectives are investigating.
