Man released after homeless person’s death

A 31-year-old man has been released from custody after the death of a homeless man in Dandenong North on Monday 2 December.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a fight that started at a home in Gladstone Road about 5am and led to the 37-year-old victim dying in hospital several hours later.

Police say a 26-year-old woman contacted police after seeing a man acting suspiciously in the front yard of her home.

Her partner confronted the man and followed him to Carlton Road where the pair fought.

The 31-year-old man suffered minor injuries during the altercation and was taken to hospital.

Police detectives released him late last night pending further enquiries.
