Danger at Springvale level crossing

Pedestrians and drivers running the gauntlet at Springvale’s level crossing were targeted by police last week.

Acting Superintendent Charlie Allen said the level crossing was in the state’s top 15 for injuries.

He urged pedestrians and drivers not to cross the tracks when the gates were closed and warning signals were operating.

Last year a tip truck driver escaped injury when the rear of his truck was struck by a train at the Springvale Road crossing.
