Summer assaults rise in Greater Dandenong

Assaults have risen in Greater Dandenong this summer, Victoria Police crime statistics show. Inspector Bruce Kitchen of Greater Dandenong police, said the 4.6 per cent rise reflected more people socialising in warmer weather. He was pleased there was also a rise in perpetrators of assault being caught and charged. As reported in the Journal last week, excessive drinking at unruly parties in parks and private addresses is being targeted by the police’s Safe Suburbs taskforce.
