TAC Cup: Dandenong Stingrays win

DANDENONG Stingrays defended their home turf with a 50-point win over Murray Bushrangers at Shepley Oval on Saturday.

The Stingrays overpowered the Bushrangers in the second half with Clayton McCartney kicking five goals in an impressive performance which landed him in the best players alongside Alex Harnett, Sam Crawford, Kyle Gray, Nathan Foote and Jake Gains.

Stingrays coach Graeme Yeats praised his players for their work rate and the defensive work after half-time.

“As the game went on I felt we continued to build on last week’s effort,” Yeats said.

“We had a few more changes this week and at this time of the year and over the next month or so we really get to see what future we have next year and the depth needed if players go down this year.”

All TAC Cup sides have a bye this weekend as the Vic Metro and Vic Country sides play practice matches ahead of the coming AFL under-18 national championships.
