Greater Dandenong Council has cracked down on unsafe boundary walls and fences since a wall collapse killed three people in Melbourne’s CBD in March. Planning director Jody Bosman said since the incident the council had inspected about 40 damaged fences, leading to 15 demolition orders. Of those orders, 10 fences were demolished and five were “outstanding”. Council staff were working with these owners to make sure the damaged boundary fences were removed to ensure public safety.
