Knifepoint abduction

A KEYSBOROUGH woman had a frightening ordeal when she was abducted at knifepoint in Brighton last week.
Twenty-four-year-old Katie, who asked not to use her last name, had finished work at the Middle Brighton Baths at about 7pm on Friday, 15 January and was walking to her car while talking on the phone.
Police said that when she got into her car, a man jumped in the front passenger side armed with a knife and ordered her to drive.
Katie drove out of the car park onto the Esplanade and turned into Park Street where the man directed her to pull over while he moved into the rear driver’s side.
As he switched places, she took the opportunity to flee and ran for help, flagging down a passing motorist who chased the man a short distance before losing him over a fence in Carpenter Street.
”It’s the closest I’ve been to knowing my time’s up. It’s very scary,” Katie told a press conference following the incident.
”I’ll go through the what-ifs many times in my head.”
Katie said she wanted her abductor to get caught so the same thing didn’t happen to anyone else.
The man is described as approximately 25 to 30 years of age, 157 cm tall, with a thin build and dark complexion and was wearing dark sunglasses and a black hoodie.
His clothing was located in the backyard of a nearby house, however the knife has not been recovered.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.crimestoppers.com.au.
