Kia win life-changer

Christmas Eve was particularly joyous for shopper Mohamad Anab.

With his 20-year-old Corolla in its last days, the 38-year-old won a new $16,000 Kia Picanto hatch in a competition at Armada Dandenong Plaza.

“The car couldn’t come at a better time.

“I never owned a new car so I decided I will keep the car for a few months to enjoy it. Then I’ll sell it to get a bigger car for the family.”

On the day of the draw on 24 December, Mr Anab drove to the Plaza with “such glee on my face”.

“I was so excited just to be among the 14 finalists.

“It’s probably the best odds I’ve been in.

“Even the speaker was surprised to how excited I was and said: ‘You know you haven’t won the car, there are 13 more contestants.’”

After several pass-the-parcel competitions, Mr Anab received key 12. He took a deep breath before he tried the key that unlocked the Kia’s door.

“I jumped out of joy and was dancing and screaming and singing. I will never forget that day.”

A grateful Mr Anab thanked Dandenong Kia and Armada Dandenong Plaza for the “life changing” prize.
