Facebook victim robbed while calling police

An i-Pad seller on Facebook Marketplace has been robbed by ‘buyers’ at his Springvale home.

After making arrangements for a hand-over, the vendor was met at his Heatherton Road home by two male visitors about 8.30pm on Monday 6 May.

The robbers inspected the item, and tried unsuccessfully to take it without paying.

During their escape, one of the males was briefly entrapped after the victim shut a backyard gate in his path. He bit the victim’s arm during a confrontation and fled.

The victim chased the other male down Guildford Avenue, while phoning police for assistance.

A group of offenders got out of a small hatch-back vehicle parked in the avenue. They snatched the phone from his hand, and kicked and punched him to ground.

The robbers were described as young and African appearance. One was tall, and the other was short, the victim told police.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Any information to Greater Dandenong CIU on 9767 7487 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au.
