Tamils enjoy their new year treats

TAMILS will celebrate their new year in Springvale with music, dance and more.
The Tamil New Year starts on the first day of the Tamil month Thai, which falls on 14 January.
The Victorian Tamil Cultural Association will host its 24th annual Thai Thirunaal Thamilar Thirunaal on Saturday 17 January.
The event also celebrates the Harvest Festival of Tamils, which shows gratitude to the sun for rice crops harvested in December and January.
The association invited Tamils of all nationalities and the general public to enjoy the Thai Thirunaal Thamilar Thirunaal festivities at Springvale Town Hall, Springvale Road, Springvale, at 5.30pm sharp.
