Noble Park star and Eastern Football League 2016’s Young Gun Ben Giobbi has packed his bags for a stint in the VFL with the Casey Scorpions.
The 20-year-old, who enjoyed a stellar 2016 with the Bulls, has risen up the football ranks and will now look at further advancing his football career at the AFL aligned club.
His 2016 season resulted in the young half-back claiming the prestigious young gun of the year award in Division 2.
He has also represented the Eastern Football League at Interleague level, performing brilliantly, claiming the best-on-ground in one of the games.
The Scorpions, who lost the grand final to Footscray at Etihad Stadium two months ago, are looking to add more exciting young talent to the foray.
The elite training and playing facilities at Casey Fields are beginning to attract young players who are viewing the VFL club as a potential stepping stone to making it in the AFL.
Giobbi adds crucial drive and an elite ability on the inside of the contest.
In other news, Hampton Park Football Club has announced its new senior coach for 2017, with Dean Warren set to take the helm for the Redbacks.
The experienced coach brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, after having previous stints with VFL clubs Box Hill, Coburg and Frankston.
The new senior coach has a level three accreditation and looms as a strong signing by the club.
Warren has also brought with him an assistant coach in Nick Johnstone as the Redbacks look to revamp their coaching structure following a disastrous 2016 on-field campaign.
