DANDENONG High School student artwork has raised cash for the Wallara Wish Foundation.
Baneen Hussain and Senuri Nimaya Hewa Indigahawelagae created paintings for Wallara’s ‘Picture This’ competition late last year.
It was open to students who’d participated in the Insight Program, which sees schools visit the Dandenong service for adults with a disability to learn about how it works and the people it supports.
Dee Condy saw the collection on display at The Drum.
“It was just something about these two paintings,” she said.
“The pictures were just brilliant.”
So she purchased them for $50 each, the students passing the money onto the Wallara Wish Foundation, which funds one-off gifts to the people it supports to help them achieve something special in their life – something they would not otherwise be able to afford.
“I’m very happy to know that’s where the money’s going,” Ms Condy said.
“We take so much for granted in life.”
Wallara supports more than 400 people across 30 sites through community day services, residential and supported accommodation, part time and full time employment and training, and workplace opportunities.
