Noble Park fire tragedy

By JARED LYNCH, The Age

POLICE are investigating a house fire that killed a man in Noble Park.

Emergency services were called to the blaze on Corrigan Road in Noble Park at 10.18pm on Monday, after neighbours saw smoke billowing from the roof.

A Country Fire Authority spokesman said firefighters arrived about six minutes later and found the home alight and a man unconscious inside.

“He was not breathing,” the spokesman said.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the man, who had suffered severe burns, could not be revived and died at the scene.

Detectives from the Dandenong Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the fire.

The home was destroyed. The last of the firefighters left the scene about 12.37am on Tuesday.
